Ingredients
  1. 1 pack dry yeast
  2. 1/2 cup sugar
  3. 2 eggs
  4. 7 cups flour
  5. 1/4 cup shortening
  6. 1 1/2 cups warm water
  7. 1 tsp Salt
  8. 1 cup undiluted evaporated milk
  9. Vegetable oil for frying
  10. Confectioner's sugar
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over water, stir to dissolve.
  2. Add sugar, salt, eggs, and milk.
  3. Add 4 cups flour. Mix in the shortening and then add the remaining flour.
  4. Cover and chill overnight. Punch down dough 1 hour before frying.
  5. Roll out on floured board to 1/8" thickness.
  6. Cut into 2 1/2" squares.
  7. Deep fry at 360 degrees 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned on both sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Sprinkle heavily with confectioner's sugar.
Notes
  1. Dough keeps well in refrigerator for several days. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and punch down occasionally.
